The Steelpan Community Mourns Two Veterans

Pan Trinbago Inc T.C. joins with the national cultural community in mourning the passing of two (2) steelpan veterans.

Steven “Steve” Achaiba and Kenrick “Parelle” Millington were both members of the south-based Petrotrin Hatters Steel Orchestra.

Steve Achaiba was a former band captain and arranger who brought home the third Panorama title to the south in 1975. He was a recipient of a Pan Trinbago Award in 201o for his contribution to the development of the steelpan, while the latter was a long-standing player and vice-captain of the band.

Funeral services are scheduled to take place today Monday July 23 at Guide’s Funeral Home. Achaiba’s is at 11:00 am with Millington’s at 3:00 pm

Petrotrin Hatters Steel Orchestra is carded to play throughout the day as the band celebrates the lives of the men.

The President and members of the Organization extend condolences and sympathies to the families and friends of Achaiba and Millington.
