Government Grants Awarded to Unsponsored Steelbands

Thursday 25th January 2024 marked a significant moment for unsponsored Steelbands as the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts government presented grants to support their cultural endeavours. 

The ceremony was held at the  National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).

The grants aim to recognize the invaluable contributions of unsponsored Steelbands to the cultural landscape. This financial support is expected to enhance their capabilities and ensure the continuity of the vibrant Steelband tradition.

This initiative underlines the government's dedication to preserving and nurturing the rich cultural heritage embodied by the steelband tradition. 

Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Mr. Videsh Maharaj, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ms. Satie Jamraj, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), President Beverley Ramsey-Moore, Pan Trinbago and Ms. Lauren Pierre, Treasurer, Pan Trinbago were present at the event.
