National Panorama 2017

National Panorama 2017 will officially kick off on Thursday 19 January 2017 in Tobago with the Single Pan category under the theme “Transformation In Steel.”

Sixty seven (67)) Single Pan Bands have registered to participate in this year’s competition which spans over several days in Trinidad & Tobago.

Three (3) steelbands are listed to participate in that Region’s leg ie Metro Stars, Hope Pan Groovers and Natural Mystic.

The next day, Friday January 20th, eleven (11) bands from the South/Central Region will go through their paces over a period of two (2) days.

They will be followed by twenty four (24) bands in the Eastern Region on Sunday January 22 and Sunday 23 January with the remaining twenty nine (29) steelbands in the North facing the same panel from Tuesday January 24 till January 26 or a total of three days.

Opening of the bands’ score sheets will take place on Friday January 27 at Port of Spain City Hall, Knox Street, Port of Spain, from 10:00 am.

Single Pan Steelbands are permitted to perform with 20 players in the Qualifying Round with a maximum of 30 players for the Finals.

For the purpose of the competition, each participating Single Pan band may select and perform any calypso/soca or chutney providing that the selection has not been played by the said steelbvand at a previous Panorama competition with a performance time of six (6) minutes.

This year’s preliminary round will take place at the competing bands’ pan yards/communities as opposed to a central location with the Finals carded for Sunday 29 January at the Arima Velodrome, Arima, from 7:00 pm.  Tickets are priced at $100.
